2001 Nissan Pathfinder stuck in park

My 2001 Nissan Pathfinder gets stuck in park and wont let me shift. After a few minutes it will finally relase and let me shift. I hear a clicking wound when I push the brakes and my lights are all working. Any ideas?

It's probably a weak solenoid for the shift interlock. You would have to access it inside the console to check that.

Watch to see if it's moving sufficiently to unlock the shifter.
