I have a 2001 Windstar ,3.8. and am not getting any heat . the engine warms up normally , not loosing antifreeze .. but when watching the antifreeze bottle , it does not go down , but warm antifreeze goes into the bottle. Would this mean the thermostat is stuck?

Recently changed upper rad hose , and all was fine till a week ago when the heat stopped, when engine is warmed, the upper rad hose is soft and squeezable.

Thanks for this site :-)

Hello,

A sticking closed thermostat can impact the heater performance by restricting coolant flow.
Another common issue is a faulty blend door actuator, which could be stuck in the cold position and only allowing cold air to flow through the vents. The blend door actuator is located under the dash on the HVAC box.

Keep in mind that when a thermostat fails at stuck closed position the engine could overheat.
Are you experiencing engine overheating?

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
