air conditioner is quiting

2001 sebring comvertible, ac runs great when engine is cold but quits after about five minutes, the runs again when cold, any suggestions?

Typical of low on refrigerant. Pressure tests will confirm that.

A low refrigerant charge can cause this symptom. You may also experience this problem if you system is over-charged; as your engine becomes hot, it heats the A/C system and that causes the refrigerant's pressure to rise. An over-pressurized system will trigger a switch to prevent the A/C compressor clutch from turning on. As the previous reply; you should use a gauge set to see what is going on in the system before you can properly diagnose the problem.
