Engine noise

When my car is idled or shifted into gear, I can hear a clicking noise coming from the middle section of the engine. When the car is accelerated, the noise goes away. I could not detect where the noise come from. Any idea? Please help. Thanks. By the way, I have a 2001 BMW 525

Noise is one of if not the most difficult things to describe in cyberspace. Clicking or ticking or tapping noise can be the lifters or the intermediate chain adjuster, without being there to hear it myself, it is most difficult to say.
