Need a diy dependable Saturn SL1 5 speed shifter to cable linkage repair.

Shift cable loose from shifter. Has a pin that connects to that is shaped like a ball for connecting a trailor. Need an at home repair solution that works well to repair and hold cable on the shifter. All help is greatly appreciated thank you.

I was by sheer luck able to find the plastic piece that snaps into the end of the shifter cable then snaps over the pin on the shifter. It had somehow made its way into an air duct. I would like to apologize for taking up your time and I thank you. I like this site and more than likely will be back in the future. Much thanks.

Just to add to this one the cable end will pop off again there is ua repair of a new cable end cap.I tried the dorman one it pop off a short time later here is the link to the one that actually worked i replaced the dorman one with.

Also you were talking about at the base of the shifter inside the car and and it was the black cable end that broke correct?If so then the info I gave for repair is correct.
