Car just started having starting problems. Had it towed to mechanic, he replaced the spark plugs. Didn't think it would help; ran a few weeks fine, then the same problem. Car turns over but doesn't catch. Any ideas?

When this happens is the security light on solid or flashing while trying to start it?

Sorry for the delay in answering you; the mechanic told me it was the fuel pump.
Anyway the light is on solid. I checked the gas cap but it was on correctly.

The security light is on for about 5 seconds while the engine is cranking. Last year I replaced ignition switch because the security codes were old.
