Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Saturn L100 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 103K miles

Yesterday my car wouldn't start after it had been parked for only 30 minutes in shopping center parking lot. After shopping, tried 3 or 4 times to start the engine; it would crank & turn over but not start. Waited about 5 minutes & tried it again. This time it started right up and was fine the rest of the day. This is the first time that has happened. Battery is new, oil & filter was changed about 30 days ago, however, car has not had a major tuneup/service in about a year or 2 (due to lack of money). What might problem be and how expensive to fix?
Thanks very much for any and all help!

Next time it happens, don't wait for nothing do below immediately to determine whether it's fuel or spark issue.

Cranks but no start condition:

Fuel and Spark:
Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
