Transmition grinds and car wont Move

Transmition grinds and car wont move. From drive to 3rd, 2nd, then 1st the grind gets faster. Do I need to replace transmition?

Any grinding noise is a real concern, I feel that there has been a fairly major failure with in the transmission, I would get a mechanic to inspect this first hand and confirm my thoughts, you are probably up for a replacement transmission.
