I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee with 182k miles on it. Last weekend i unhooked the battery to replace the oil sensing unit. When completed, everything worked fine but it failed to start a time or two. I had a loose battery cable. But now, after five days, it will just die at slow speeds or in city traffic. Battery or altenator? Any ideas?

Most likely the idle control is not working correctly.

When idle air passages are partially restricted due to dirt accumulation disconnecting the battery would affect the idling as stored conditions are erased from memory. The computer would relearn but it would take time and cleaning the throttle body and IAC would expedite the process.
