Ford Mustang problem

I have a 2000 ford mustang 3.8 v6 its takes spells of missing and backfireing and sometimes quits beside the road after setting a few minutes it will start and go on for awhile acts like something getting hot but gauge does not show hot how can I fix this problem

No lights are on put code checker on it and it shows nothing

No check engine light on and put code checker on it but it shows nothing either seems to do it more often when running air conditioner
