I'm glad this forum is available. I'm trying to find out why my 97 LXi won't start. I'm getting fire from the battery to the starter, but the connection to the starter was corroded. I cleaned it off, as best as I could, and tried to start the van and got nothing. So with the starter still unconnected to the van's battery, I took my jumper cables and connected the positive (+) cable to the positive post to my battery in my running '07 Ford Fusion. Tried to start it. Still nothing.

Could I have a bad starter? Or could it be something else?
