I keep getting the service engine light?

I have a 2000 chev S 10 pick up truck and I keep getting the service engine light. So I re set it but it keeps comeing back. Could this be a problem? I never get the check engine light, the one that has the little engine.

Hello,

The service engine light comes on due an issue with one or more of the engine management sensors and components. It can also be triggered due an emission issue.
Unless the problem is fixed the light will come back on after you clear or reset it.

The best step would be to scan the vehicle for the trouble codes. That can tell you what might be the reason the light is getting triggered.
