Starter/Safty nutrual switch.

I just put a low mile trans in a 2000 impala, 3.8 ltr. The starter will not engage, put 12 volts directly to the starter, starter works. Is there a way to test the cilanoid? Is there a way to override the safty nutrual switch if that is it? Is there a way to test the safty switch? Thanks, Chad.

You would need a professional scan tool to read that. The PCM monitors gear selections through the electronic range selector for numerous decisions that is makes and the starter is only one of them.
