1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Overnight, my Jeep began to "miss" badly; so I replaced the wires and plugs, but it continues to miss badly. What's wrong? I checked the Generator Field (OK); the Fuel Pump Relay (OK); and the Trans Voltage Relay (OK). What do you recommend?

Unable to read the codes -- the computer(s) were bypassed three years ago by a mechanic in Andrew TX trying to solve a similar (but not quite) problem (that was eventually determined to be the use of synthetic oil). Any other suggestions?

The computers were bypassed? I'd recommend putting them back into the control loop and going from there. Missing can be caused by a bad coil, ignition pickup, control module or problematic valves. If the control modules are bypassed, the problem is probably in the pickup inside the distributor.
