99 Sonata fuel system

Car will start run a few min. then die. after some time will start and do the same. Cranks over fine. I removed the in line filter and turned the key on thinking a elec. pump should pump. It only pumps gas out the filter line when I crank it over in spurts like a mechanical pump would ??. Shouldn't the gas pump out the line when the key is on ?

It pumps for 2 seconds when the key is first turned on and then again when it sees a tach signal. Use a fuel pressure gauge. It's the only way to know if you have a fuel pressure problem.
