How do i repair my car so its running on all cylinders

I have a 99 1.4 honda civic , its a bit sluggish starting of , i was told it wasnt running on all cylinders, i replaced the spark plugs and was going to replace the distributor cap and plug wires , is this right ????

scan for codes and check fuel pressure first.

Do you have overheating and coolant losses issues?
Spark plugs and related components are maintenance items and do affect misfiring etcs but you don't replace everything hoping that it would solve the problem.

Improper valve clearance can cause a lot of running issues, especially while idling.
