problems with battery getting discharged

my 1999 ford f250 gas is dsicharging the battery to avoid it discharching i have to disconnect one of the terminals. what could be causing this problem?

So its only discharging while the truck is off?Never while its running?Have you had the alternator tested yet?

Also has the battery been tested yet?Madw sure the battery cables are clean and tight?

I wouldnt call it a short those usually dont drain the battery they may blow fuses but drain the battery.

If its a drain while running its a charging issue.If its draining while its shut off its a parsitic draw like a bad diode in the alternator etc.
