1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Oil leak

Heard a pop while driving started smoking, now there is major oil on the trunk of the car and a leak all around the ground wher the oil pan sits where I parked. What could be the problem? The car still drives fine however it's parked till we find out what's wrong due to the fact I added 3 quarts after it happen on the highway and it was empty by the time I made it the 15 min ride home. Please help me

You may have hit something and damaged the oil pan, oil filter may have been damaged or the pressure switch may have failed. Have it towed to a shop for an evaluation to pin point the issue
