1998 Pontiac Grand Prix Repair Question

I have a 1998 pontiac grand prix 3.8 my coolant fan does not work but it does work with the ac I already changed two out of the 3 relays and got nothing so I changed the coolant temp sensor and my temp gauge is all the way up way way up and I know my car

Coolant fan not working and changed coolant temp sensorand my gauge is all the way up even tho my car is cold and won't go back down,

If you unplug the sensor will the gauge drop all the way down?Any codes in the computer?

i think it might have been a defective ECTS because i bought another one at a different merchant and now it reads at it should but my fan is still not working

there is a seperate sensor for the fan operation.

it is right below the throttle body on your vehicle.
