While driving my 1998 Monte Carlo with a 3.1 liter it will shut off after driving it three miles. Will not re-start after sitting. When I took it to an auto-body shop, the computer reads that it is my mass air flow sensor. It was replaced but did not fix the problem.

When it doesn't start, you need to check to see if you are getting fuel and spark to the engine. Once you do that, you will know which components to focus on. If you need directions, visit our homepage under the DIY section to find both directions and a videos.

That has also been checked. It has nothing to do with fuel.

Yes there is a spark to the engine. They have now replaced my ignition and mass air flow sensor and they did not fix the problem either.

If you have spark and fuel, it should run. Check to see if the injectors are getting power.
