Gas gauge

Why would the gas gauge stop working and is there any way I could possibly fix it with out spending too much it will go from the correct level and then drop down to E

Somewhere around 120000 it has a new fuelpump that was put in about 1.5 years ago and never had this problem b4

Do you ever use fuel with ethanol? Known to cause sensor in tank degradation. Also could be cluster issue. Gm gauge clusters are a big rebuild business. Try ebay for lowest price. Maybe do web search for do it your self fix?
