Changed oil in 3.1 litre with correct oil I now have a tap or slight knock only after engine gets hot about 15 minutes, checked pressure and has very little at idle and slight more as engine revs, put a 15w40 weight in I thought as the oil gets hot the pump wont push it, the knock now just takes a little longer to kick in. I dont think there is any berring damage because it purrs purfect when cold. Do you think its the pump and how difficult to replace. Thanks for any help, ps were not driving the car to prevent any further damage, thanks jim

Im not sure the garage on the corner said it had next to none at an idle and a little when you rev the motor, I understood it as pretty bad, they want 900 to replace the pump but dont have it at this time trying to get a 2nd opinion what do you think thanks jim

You gonna have to drop the oil pan and investigate, if its non existing at idle normal reading should be atleast 8-12 psi-the oil pump probably has failed or pressure relief valve is stuck open
