Why are my dash lights staying on?

The dash lights on my blazer look more like the lights on an x-mas tree, and when you shut it off some stay on and the odometer no longer works. Also when the key is on or its running you can hear a ziiiip click, like the automatic vent is continually opening and closing and it blows nothing but hot air.

The noise sounds like the blend door is sticking. As far as the lights, it sounds like there may be a problem with the ignition switch itself. Almost as if it isn't in the right position. I would start with checking the first.
