I have a 98 Cadillac Catera. The heater works fine unless its really really cold outside, then it only works if I'm pressing on the gas. I thought it might be the thermostat but you never know with these little guys. Please help.

Sounds like a clog in heater core or maybe bad water pump, make sure system is full of antifreeze. Flush system and blow some air through heater core

It could be possible that the thermostat is not regulating the temperature correctly. The colder it gets, the more you will notice. Also considering that speed brings heat, is your coolant level low? Not the concentration of coolant, but the basis liquid level in the cooling system.
