1997 Mercury Tracer. Car starts and runs fine for a minute or so and dies and/or car starts sometimes and misses real bad almost attempting to die as if it isn't getting fuel. Replaced fuel pump and filter. Also noticed that the radio and clock stays on now even when the key is off and out. What gives?

Plastic ignition switch blown. Cheap and easy -- as a junkyard doggy they are mucho cheap. Replace the rubber PVC elbow at the top of the engine -- it is collapsed and bleeding air, wrecking your air fuel mixture. People! Pay attention to this! These 1.9's ALL do this.
