While driving my 96 Maxima, I can not accelerate to 2000 rpm. As long as I drive under 2000 rpm it drives smooth but as soon as it gets on 2000 rpm it starts to hesitate and skip but will never go any faster. The fastest I can drive is about 58 mph.

Could be caused by one of the following below

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.

My check engine light is not on but I have replaced all spark plugs, coil packs, and the knock sensor. My egr valve and the mass airflow sensor was replaced about 6 or 7 months ago.

There is a high possibility of a clogged exhaust system. Get it checked.
