Will start up but dies immediately.

The car will start up but die immediately. So far we have changed air filters, belts, fuel filter and used the book to troubleshoot. After changing the fuel filter the car will stay running for a few seconds longer than it did before but idles extremely low and then dies. Please Help!

Spray or pour fuel in the intake will it start then. If yes this is a fuel issue. Rent a fuel pressure gauge at the part store and check the pressure.

Would it be reasonable for me to go ahead and put a new fuel pump in the car?
