I ran over a block of ice and put a hole in my oil pan can I get instructions on how to take off the oil pan so I can have it welded and put back on? Or would it be easier to just have it raised on a lift and welded that way?

I don't think you're going to find anyone willing to try welding it. There can't be any paint or oil residue, and there's a good chance it will leak. If it's aluminum, that gets real expensive to weld. You're much better off getting a good used pan from a salvage yard.

When aluminum pans are cracked, you have to remove it to push the pieces back out and to clean the oil off before it can be welded. You have an engine problem but you didn't list the engine size so I can't look up the part. No one is going to want to lay on the ground either to try to fix this. Even just removing the pan can be a miserable job on the ground.

For the instructions on removing the pan, your best bet is to get a copy of the manufacturer's service manual. I rarely recommend using a Chilton's or Hayne's manual but this is one time they might be sufficient. You can also go to the top of this page and point to "Repair and Service", then click on "Manuals". You'll have to buy a subscription, but that will give you almost everything you'll find in the Chevy manual.
