1996 Acura TL RPM hand not stable

Rpm hand jumps bad and sometimes dont work at all. Hard jerk in first gear. Lights on dash board that shows the car doors and trunk open blinks off and on. What can be the problem. Check engine light is on

Chances are there is a problem with a ground. However, since the check engine light is on, you should start by having the computer scanned to determine the trouble codes stored.
