I have a 95 Nissan pickup. 2.4l 4cyl. One day I was driving it after raising some hell on the pavement and it began loosing power. Within 1/2 a mile it died. It started once more with barely enough power to pull me in the gas station. The motor will turn over but just barely as if the battery were dead, however ive tried numerous times to jump it off. I thought it may have jumped time so I replaced the timing chain but still no change. When trying to crank and motor is just barely turning over I hear an occasional hiss like the sound of compressed air being released. I don't know where to go from here.

Was the timing out when you replaced the chain? It is an interference motor. Check the compression first.

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, Do you hear the fuel pump come On when you turn key on? If not check fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay if okay-check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing

I own a 1985 nissan 720 with z24 engine. I spent the last 3 days swapping out my automatic transmission for a 5 speed manual. Everything went together good but now for some reason I cant get it crank. The lights and everything else come on. The starter doesnt even click. I never hooked up the clutch safety button and the I didnt hook up the 6 wires that ran to the automatic transmission. Do those wires have to be hooked up to complete a full circut?
