Ford Probe Smoke Problem

1994 probe gt. will start, but when gets hot (normal temp) starts to idle up and down then eventually just dies. Try restart but wont. it cranks over fine just wont re ignite. any possible solutions would be helpful. thanks.

Start by checking for trouble codes.

I replaced the ECM, distributor cap and rotor plus cleaned parts, replaced ignition switch. Now it will crank but then makes grinding noise and blows smoke out of M.A.P. sensor. I am at a loss. gets fuel.

Follow up. I replaced above parts with those of another 94 probe gt. The parts were new to almost new. I took them from my probe gt to put into my daughters 94 probe gt.

Swapping out components would not work if you are not getting to the cause of the problem. You did not check for trouble codes and taking the ECM out would erase all codes stored.

Start with basic shecks, ignition sparks, fuel pressure, injectors. Blowing smoke out of intake can be a fault with the timing.

Which engine do you have? If equipped with timing belt, check if it has gone out of time due to excessive slack.
