check engine light

Would the check engine light come on if the ignition modular is bad and would the cam senior over ride the ingintion modular, if so would the check engine light be on.

What exactly is the problem? What codes do you have in your on board diagnostics ? (flash code or D-DEC II) If either are going bad it will trip a fault code and turn the check engine light on. Most auto part stores will do a free code check reading for you, or do a flash code check . Instructions are on this websight.

to read the light you will need to turn key 3 times do not start the engine just turn on and off 3 times and then the check engine light will flash first 1 time with 1 sec palse the 2 times this will do this 3 time that will be code 12 this means your conected to the computer then it will flash the code there will be a 3 sec palse between the code flashes count the flashes and let me know what the no. are thank you

There is no codes. The check engine light is not on and I have no fire to the plugs.

you will need to check the coil and the ignition control mod you can take in to autozone they can test them

What does the ignition control mod look like and where is it located on a 1993 jeep cherokee 6 cylinder.

take the dist. cap off and turn the motor over see if the rotor rotates if not then the timing chain broke if it does then turn engine ove till the #1 cyclender is at top dead center and see if the rotor is at #1 position

ignition controll mod is under the distributor cap & rotor . it is the inductive pick up that reads the shaft on the distributor ( telling the computer when to send spark from the coil )
