I drive an old 1993 Honda Civic, this afternoon, when ever I press the accelerator, the engin revs up and there is no more drive... I would slow down to a halt and I only got home by stopping the car and starting it back up, but I had to to that a couple of times. Is this hopeless or costly to fix?

Do you have a manual or automatic transmission?

Check the transmission fluid level first. If it is low, top it up and hope it drives better. If not, the transmission is failing and it is going to cost you at least a thousand bucks, if you can get a used unit.

It will be that cheap if you can find one and put it in yourself.
