1992 cadillac deville

I need to replace my catalytic converter on my 1992 cadillac deville. I was wondering what you thought about a direct fit magnaflow catalytic. Also I was watching a video on youtube I know this is stupid but I saw a guy pull out his sound baffel in his intake. Does a 1992 cadillac deville have a sound baffel. Also what happens if I do take it out. The guy said it gives you a few extra horsepower. What does a sound baffel do. I wont take mine out I just want to know what it does and what happens if you take it out. Thanks.
