acceleration issues

hi i have a 92 buick park ave. everytime i get into the gas pedal it spits, sputters,and backfires. now if i ease into it slightly it runs fine. but its hard for me to accelerate fast with this problem making it unsafe for the family. i did replace the fuel pump not the problem. any ideas for my vehicle problem?

try cleaning MAF sensor and maybe take a fuel pressure test.
