Which fluid level is going low, power steering fluid or brake fluid? If you hold steady pressure on the brake pedal, does it slowly sink to the floor? If it does, you have a brake fluid leak.

If that grinding noise is more of a buzzing sound, only occurs when the engine is running, and it gets worse when you turn the steering wheel, it is likely from a power steering leak.
