Car has new wires, new plugs and cap and rotor. Seems to have fuel pressure and does not seem to have any vacuum leaks. The engine will rotate but won’t turn over and the carburetor is spitting up gas. I am getting spark 351C.

Good afternoon,

Are you sure you got the distributor timing correct?

If it is off, it will cause this issue.

I would assume it is I haven’t changed it. Also could this be from a bad carburetor? Or is there a direction I should look at?

Okay, good.

Can you post a picture of the top of the motor for me to view?

Did you hook the coil back up correctly?

If you have no spark. I need you to test for power to the positive side of the coil with the key in the on position.

If you do, then go to the negative side and use a test light. Crank the engine and see if the test light flashes.

I don’t have a test light but I’ve tried the method with the screw driver placing it inside the wire and putting it near a ground and I’m getting a spark. Also tested my coil and I was getting a spark there as well. Also I failed to mention I pulled a couple plugs out last night and noticed some gas on them not drenched or anything just very slight. I also dried them off not helping.

Okay, make sure the choke plate is open while cranking. It may be flooded.

If not, then tell me how you set the wires on the plugs. Did you have the plug wires off?

Yes, they have a firing order they need to follow.

There are two firing orders. I attached the one for the 351 Cleveland motor.

There are two there. It could be either one. It all depended on the cam installed in the engine.
