Will not shift into fourth gear and engine light turns on

Hi,

Since the light is coming on, the first thing that needs done is to have the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a quick video that shows how it's done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but often times a parts store will do if free of charge. Have this done and record the codes that are found. Once you have them, let me know what they are. That will help point me in the right direction.
