No warning or warning on dash. Went to fill my gas tank was at about a half tank filled gas tank. Went to start car back up have no dash lights, heat, 4x4, or turn signals. Have radio and head lights and tale lights. Car will start and run but cannot drive. When you hit gas pedal rpm needle does not move.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

This could be a few things. Actually, there are fuses for everything. However, I strongly recommend you return the vehicle to the dealer. It is still under 100% warranty (3 year/36K miles bumper to bumper).

Let me know if I can help.

Joe

Welcome back:

It could be several things including an ignition switch, body control module, grounding issues, power issues and so on. New vehicles/manufacturers incorporate so much technology and computer run components. Even the throttle pedal is no longer attached to the engine, but rather the accelerator pedal position sensor (in the vehicle) sends a wireless signal and a computer (Electronic throttle control actuator) which determines how far you are pressing the pedal and how much to open the throttle.

With that in mind, a tech needs to scan the computer for diagnostic trouble codes. Once the codes are found, they will point the tech in the direction of the problem. Also, since you lost other electrical components, I feel like it is most likely a computer related issue or the ignition switch itself is not sending power where it needs to be.

Please feel free to ask more questions. It is just hard for me to pinpoint anything without codes. I miss the old days. LOL

Take care of yourself and I would really be interested in knowing what is found as the problem.

Joe

The vehicle is at the dealer. Did a quick look the vehicle started and everything worked. Going to check it out more on Monday. So should have more answers. A little scary being as I am a single mother who has five kids in the car with me. With no warning.

I understand, and it is something you would not expect with a new vehicle.

Let me know what they tell you.

Take care,
Joe

Hello. Got my vehicle back. Was told this: Technician is just finishing up. Definitely just the battery. Had about fifteen different low voltage codes, all relating to the issues you had. Just had it out for a road test, all checks out good. You may pick up at your convenience. Thank you. Just concerning it did that being a 2017 with no warning at all.

Welcome back:

I am glad it was something simple. Getting codes makes life much easier. However, I sill have a concern. The starter places an extremely heavy load on the battery. Since the car would start, I question why low voltage was an issue. Did it sound weak when it would start?

If it did not, I wonder if there could be weak body grounds or something causing excessive resistance in the electrical system.

Time will tell. I hope for the next twenty years all you do is maintenance and put gas in it. They are really good vehicles. Feel free to come back anytime.

Take care,
Joe

That will definitely cause a problem. With that in mind, when you cranked the engine, the battery should have sounded really weak. Was that happening?
