Which Car Would Last Longer?

So, currently, nothing is wrong with my car. However, I am searching for assistance with a slightly weird question. I have two cars: a 2015 Kia Soul and a 2014 Chevy Cruze. Both have about 100,000 miles. Both used. Both are in good working condition. I need to sell one of them, but I am a single woman with zero car knowledge, and I don’t know which would be more prudent to keep, which would last longer for me.

The Cruze has had a host of new parts out on, the previous owner took good care of it, but it needed new spark plugs, spark-plug coils, tires, and a pipe (I believe he called it a PCV pipe, but I’m not entirely certain). It has never given me any issues except for these mechanical ones.

The Soul has never needed any new parts.

However, I travel a lot, and the Soul is less convenient space-wise. It also feels less safe, as the Cruze feels more solid and seems to get better MPG.

Just looking for some advice on the matter!

Deciding which car to keep can be a tough choice, especially when both vehicles are in good working condition. Here are some factors to consider when making your decision:

Reliability History: Both cars have similar mileage, but it sounds like the Cruze has required some recent maintenance. However, the fact that it needed new parts doesn't necessarily mean it's less reliable overall. If the previous owner took good care of it and addressed maintenance promptly, it could still be a reliable choice.

Maintenance and Repairs: Consider the potential future maintenance and repair costs for both cars. You mentioned the Cruze has had recent maintenance, which might indicate that some wear and tear parts have been addressed. The Soul not needing any new parts so far is a positive point, but remember that all vehicles will eventually need maintenance as they age.

Space and Convenience: If you travel a lot and find the Soul less convenient space-wise, this might be a significant factor to consider. If the extra space of the Cruze would enhance your comfort and convenience during your travels, it could be a valuable aspect to prioritize.

Safety and Comfort: Feeling safe in your vehicle is essential. If the Cruze feels more solid and secure to you, that's a valid point to consider. Additionally, if the Cruze offers better fuel efficiency and a more comfortable driving experience, that might factor into your decision, especially considering your frequent travel.

Resale Value: The resale value of a vehicle can also impact your decision. Check the current market value of both the Kia Soul and the Chevy Cruze with similar mileage and condition to get an idea of their potential resale value in the future.

Personal Preference: At the end of the day, your personal comfort and preference play a significant role. If you feel more confident and comfortable driving one of the vehicles, that can make a big difference in your overall driving experience.
