Even when in drive it wont shift once approximately 55 cars rpm's are 3 1/2. And more depending how fast I go The side button on top of auto shifter wont click to change from the low 3 to low 2 or low 4 it just doesn't do anything. Where is TCM fuse located? Wheres TCM located? Is it difficult to change either of them?

Hi.

I don't think the TCM is an issue just yet. I need to know a few things. First, when you place the shifter in D (not 3rd), does the indicator show D or does it stay in 3? Also, when you shift through the gears, does the indicator show all gears such as park, reverse and so on?

The TCM is an expensive component, so that is a last choice at this point. If the fuse was blown, it wouldn't be shifting. I have a feeling (only a theory at this point) that the transmission range sensor may be bad. This component is what tells the TCM gear selection.

Let me know about the indicator. Also, if you have had the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes, let me know what codes were found.

Take care,
Joe

Hi again,

You are very welcome. I just hope to be able to help from here. What was the last code you got that indicated the TCM?

I'm not completely sure of the code you found, but if that is what it read, then I suspect the TCM is bad. However, before we jump to that conclusion, I want you to check the connector at the TCM to make sure it isn't corroded, loose, or have any damaged pins.

The TCM is located under the hood on the driver's side. It mounts to the frame rail. See pic 1.

Before you disconnect or reconnect the TCM, the battery must be disconnected. Failure to do that (if it's good) can damage the module.

Check that and let me know what it looks like.

Take care,
Joe
