The cruise control started to work only after I had used the car and then turned it off it now only works now and then. When you press the button on the steering wheel nothing happens. When it does work it will work until I turn the car off again and re start when nothing happens again. The cruise control light does not light up at all. But when it does it works all the time. I can only think that this can be an electrical fault mabey a relay or something

Your cruise control switch may be bad? Has some one spilled anything on the steering wheel? You could also have some other problems as well that will cancel out the cruise control? Do you have a check engine light or maybe the ABS light coming on? If you do that will cancel out the cruise control. You should take it to a shop where they can scan and diagnose your problem.
