I have a well maintained 2002 Volvo S80 in immaculate condition. All my electrical is working fine, all windows and sunroof always roll up and down no problem. My driver's side window sometimes rolls up and down no problem, and sometimes just gets stuck on its way down. I don't think its the window motor, because it's still working the window just keeps getting stuck. I took it to my mechanic, and he said it need a whole need frame and motor, at $500. I didn't think this was necessary, and I just wanted to know if there was anything I can do to fix this problem without breaking the bank,

Thank you very much,
Justin

Hello and thanks for donating!

Instead of purchasing a whole new frame assembly, how about buying a small can of WD 40? Try lubricating the frame / tracks very well with WD 40 and work it in by rolling the window up and down several times. See if this helps the "sticking" situation and let me know.

Do you mean the window just stops in the middle of rolling down or up? If this is the case and the shop has verified it is the motor then unfortunately the window motor comes with the window regulator as an assembly. After replacing the window motor, the motor will need to be reinitialized for the auto up and down to function properly.
