1968 Other Volvo Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

trying to get running, changed wires, cap, rotor, etc. Want to change coil as has no spark. It is Bosch replacement looks like normal coil, but when pull old one out attatched to cable going to key ignition. This car actually has a key then push button start. Haynes manual says nothing about coil can't find another resourse for that year the model of volvo is P1800

What is attached to coil? Need a little clearer explanation

It is a metal cable about 1/2 in. Dia. Attatched to bottom of coil when it bolts to the firewall, the other end of cable is connected to key ignition, which I think may have been messed with because there is a push button switch to actually start car. Car will turn over but no spark at all from coil.

All P1800 ign coils are the same from 65 to 73 and there is nothing attached to the bottom. How is it connected / can you remove? What is inside?
