I have a 1980 voltzwagon rabbit when you start the car it run's great. After it warms up it acts like it ran out of gas. But it fires right back up but as soon as you touch the gas it dies. Coil is ok no vacume leaks that I know of but like I said it runs great for about an half an hour then goes it to this mode. After a while it wont idle too. Thanks for your time, dusty

You didn't say wether your car is carburated or fuel injected or gas/diesel.

I would suggest changing the fuel filter the sediment tends to fall to the bottom of the filter until the engine is started, then it sucks the sediment against the element blocking the flow. The longer it runs the more sediment gets sucked up the less fuel gets through.
