Steering problem
2003 Volkswagen Passat 1.9TDI Wheel Drive Type unknown Manual 130000 miles

I recently experienced rubbing/scuffing noise only when I"m steering the weel both sides and engine become noisier than usual(on low revs )on high revs steering noise goes away and the car drives perfectly.
What that could be?

Could be the belt slipping or the pump whining. What do you mean the engine gets louder?

I mean engine gets louder like from inside the car if is not driven I can hear rattling noise which goes away now and then by itself and then there is no rubbing/scuffing noise if I'm steering otherwise if the I can hear ruttling nouse from inside the car when I'm steering rubbing noise is back which does sound, you mentioned it, like some belts are slipping. Do I need to change belts do you think would help or pump?
