2002 Volkswagen Passat engine light on

2002 audi v-6 engine--engine light has come on--it is yellow--checked oil and it is fine--only problem I notice is that the door remote stopped working at the same time and when I use the regular key to lock it the usual beep is not there so could the sensor simply be detecting a problem with the keyless entry such as a fuse?

Get the vehicle scanned for trouble codes and post back the error to me so we can get continued with what is possibly wrong.

More info-- I am out of town now or I would get it checked -- I notice that the odometer just turned 60,000-- could this have anything to do with the engine light coming on? I ask because in the service schedule at 60k it says that the computer diagnostics should be run at the 60k check up --

Yes that is possible though usually it wont turn on unless it finds an error, it is entirely possible. Ill have to check further on that.
