Trunk Issues

I have a 2001 VW Jetta, VR6, 105,000 miles. I cannot get the trunk to open. I have used the key flob, the trunk release from inside the car and the key itself. It makes the sound that it is opening but then does not open. Any suggesstions without having to go to the dealer. It is such a hassle to take it.

I have a 1999 jetta, 4 cylinder, 110,000 miles. Have the same problem.

Can't open with the key fob, the lever in the car, or with the key from the outside.

Any help?
