My engine was recently replaced for my 2000 VW Jetta GLS. Company my insurance company used butchered the job and now my windows, sun roof, interior lights, trunk release button, radio and key remote do not work. The windows will roll down only from the outside with the key. Could this be a simple fuse replacement or a sign of extensive electrical repair? If a fuse can be replaced, which fuse(s) will fix the issue?

I doubt it, but you can check them, I would call the adjuster and complain about the work, ALL service providers of insurance work are required to make the car right BEFORE it's released to the customer. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Light a fire uder the insurance adjuster's Butt.

I tried that, but the insurance company decided to consider my car a complete loss instead. I took it back with some cash in hand. Now just need to figure out if I can fix on my own or if I have to take it to a VW certified tech. Personally I think the shop they used had no clue what they were doing. It took them over a month to get it to that point. Engine replacements shouldn't take that long.

If the shop doest have a VW scan tool, get it to VW and see if they can rest the modules, it is not possible without it.
