CAN THE TOP PART BE CHANGED OR DOES THE WHOLE UNIT HAVE TO BE CHANGED. IF THE WHOLE UNTI NEEDS TO BE CHANGED HOW IS THAT DONE

On manual remote control mirrors, unscrew the adjusting knob. On electric remote mirrors, carefully pry the control out of the door and disconnect the wiring. Remove the inside door panel. Remove the cable control lock-nut or disconnect the wiring and remove the screws to remove the mirror from the door. Installation is the reverse of removal.
